Baking Soda/Natrium bikarbonat

Natrium bikarbonat adalah senyawa kimia dengan rumus NaHCO3. Dalam penyebutannya kerap disingkat menjadi bicnat. Senyawa ini termasuk kelompok garam dan telah digunakan sejak lama.

Senyawa ini disebut juga baking soda (soda kue), Sodium bikarbonat, natrium hidrogen karbonat, dan lain-lain. Senyawa ini merupakan kristal yang sering terdapat dalam bentuk serbuk. Natrium bikarbonat larut dalam air. Senyawa ini digunakan dalam roti atau kue karena bereaksi dengan bahan lain membentuk gas karbon dioksida, yang menyebabkan roti "mengembang".

Senyawa ini juga digunakan sebagai obat antasid (penyakit maag atau tukak lambung). Karena bersifat alkaloid (basa), senyawa ini juga digunakan sebagai obat penetral asam bagi penderita asidosis tubulus renalis (ATR) atau rhenal tubular acidosis (RTA).

NaHCO3 umumnya diproduksi melalui proses Solvay, yang memerlukan reaksi natrium klorida, amonia, dan karbon dioksida dalam air. NaHCO3 diproduksi sebanyak 100 000 ton/tahun (2001).[1]

Soda kue juga diproduksi secara komesial dari soda abu (diperoleh melalui penambangan bijih trona, yang dilarutkan dalam air lalu direaksikan dengan karbon dioksida. Lalu NaHCO3 mengendap sesuai persamaan berikut :

Na₂CO₃ + CO₂ + H₂O → 2 NaHCO₃

DI DAPUR

• Letakkan semangkuk baking soda di dalam TEMPAT SAMPAH? membantu menyerap bau tak sedap
• PIPA MAMPET? tambahkan 3 sendok makan baking soda ke dalam pipa, tunggu 1 jam, niscaya pipa yang mampet akan plong kembali
• Lemparkan segenggam baking soda ke KOMPOR TERBAKAR. Kandungan carbon dioxide yang terjadi karena baking soda yang terbakar, mematikan api
• Untuk menjaga WARNA SAYURAN agar tetap segar, tambahkan 1 sendok teh baking soda ke dalam rebusan sayur. Tapi hal tidak dianjurkan krn mengikis habis kandungan vitamin C di dalam sayuran.
• Ada beberapa orang yang sulit mencerna sayuran semacam kembang kol dan kacang2an Untuk membantu pencernaan, tambahkan satu sendok teh baking soda dalam rebusan sayur.

• Rendam perhiasan anda dalam larutan yang mengandung 3 bagian baking dan 1 bagian air, selama beberapa menit. Bilas dan keringkan segera dengan kain lap yang lembut.

• Campurkan 70% minyak kelapa dengan 30% baking soda, gunakan untuk menggosok gigi setiap hari. Warna gigi yang menguning akan berubah menjadi warna putih alami.
